Tungsten oxide nanopowder, which may be applied for the production of thermal insulation film with high heat insulation rate (mainly shielding UV and infrared rays) and high transmittance of visible light, is a type of photocatalyst with certain photocatalytic activity, while its photocatalytic performance is not so good. Therefore, some researchers have conducted a lot of researches for improving the photocatalytic activity of tungsten oxide. For example, the CuBi2O4/WO3 photocatalyst is a type of typical Z-type systems. By electrochemical testing, it was found that the band structure of the two semiconductors met the requirements of the Z-type system. The photogenerated electrons of WO3 recombined with the photogenerated holes on CuBi2O4, thereby leaving photogenerated electrons with higher reducing power on CuBi2O4 and photogenerated holes with higher oxidizing power on WO3.
