Tungsten Oxide Applied for Thermal Insulating Glass

Tungsten oxide may be used for producing thermal insulating glass to reduce indoor or in-car temperature, thereby improving human comfort and saving energy.

Currently, there are various methods for preparing tungsten oxide. According to the nature of the raw materials and the difference of reaction process, it may be roughly divided into solid phase method, gas phase method, and liquid phase method. And the synthesis method has a significant influence on the physicochemical properties of the material as it directly affects the crystal structure and particle size of the synthesized material. For example, the solid phase method uses tungsten-containing oxide such as tungstic acid or ammonium tungstate (AMT) to directly decompose to prepare tungsten trioxide. Although the process is simple, the obtained product is easily agglomerated, which requires secondary pulverization with low quality. The gas phase method can be used to prepare tungsten trioxide material with small particle size and high purity, but it has high requirements on equipment and technology. The liquid phase method is realized by a simple solution process by chemical means, which can adjust the microstructure and crystal structure of the material by adjusting the composition of the solution.
