Transparent Thermal Insulation Nanopowder: Tungsten Oxide

Tungsten oxide is not only a transparent thermal insulation nanopowder, but a photocatalyst. Cubic tungsten trioxide hemihydrates (c-WO3•0.5H2O) may be synthesized via solvothermal method by regulating the amount of acetone and urea, whose size is from 120nm to 180nm.transparent thermal insulation nanopowder tungsten oxide picture
The study found that the crystal water of cubic tungsten trioxide hemihydrate has an important effect on photocatalytic property and the reason has been discussed. The photocatalytic activity decreased when crystal water of as-prepared sample has been removed. While the photocatalytic activity has been recovered when crystal water has been added again. The investigation on the photocatalytic activity of cubic tungsten trioxide hemihydrate showed that 99% RhB has been eliminated after 220min.

In addition, it is found that urea and acetone play an important role in adjusting the pH value of reaction system on crystal structure. And the urea, acetone and intermediate also play a role in the crystal structure and morphology.
