Yellow tungsten oxide nanopowder is a type of near-infrared shielding material, which is mainly applied in different fields where require high heat insulation performance in the form of heat insulating film or coating. In addition, yellow tungsten oxide can also provide a new solution to solve oil pollution problem.
Underwater superoleophobic yellow tungsten oxide films have been fabricated on 2300 meshes stainless steels via the modified hydrothermal process. SEM was used to analyze the surface morphology and results showed that the original smooth stainless steel surface was covered with a layer of rough structure after the hydrothermal process. By the XRD analysis, it indicated that the rough structure was composed of hexagonal yellow tungsten oxide. Further, the obtained yellow tungsten oxide films were used to separate oil/water mixture and oil-in-water emulsion through a simple separating unit. Further, the separation efficiency was calculated. And the morphologies of emulsions for both before and after separation have been recorded by a microscope.
