Tungsten trioxide, which is applied for thermal insulation master batch, may be synthesized by hydrothermal method. Using sodium tungstate and hydrochloric acid as raw materials, Na2SO4 (0.5M, 0.125M, and 0.125M) as additive, the synthesized products are all hexagonal tungsten trioxide nanowires.
The thickness and length of the synthesized tungsten trioxide powder are different to a certain extent, which indicates that the concentration of Na2SO4 additive has an influence on the grain size of tungsten trioxide, but has no effect on the crystal form and the morphology of tungsten trioxide. Na+ may play an important structure directing role in the formation of nanowires, which is of great significance for stabilizing the hexagonal phase structure. The hexagonal tungsten trioxide nanowire obtained by using 0.125M Na2SO4 as additive has the smallest grain size and the best photocatalytic activity. The degradation rate of visible light irradiation of Rhodamine B solution after 150min is 96.01%.
